Thu, 22 Nov 2007

Trainee dental care professionals (DCP) in the UK who are due to qualify before 30 July 2008 have been advised to take advantage of the 2007 GDC registration fee of £72, which must be applied for before the end of the year.

The registration fee is set to increase on January 1 2008 to £96, although DCPs can submit a completed registration application to the GDC before December 31st along with the current fee .

GDC operations director, Edward Bannatyne, commented: ‘This special offer is designed to encourage and motivate dental nurses and dental technicians who are coming to the end of their training to apply early, well ahead of the July deadline."

He added: "Come on, get those forms in. You can only gain by applying now. We don't want anyone to miss the boat ."

Trainee dental hygienists, dental therapists, clinical dental technicians and orthodontic therapists can also benefit from the arrangement, as long as they are due to qualify before 30 July 2008 and need to register before they can work .

Dental care professionals who, after taking advantage of the offer, do not obtain their qualification will be able to request a full refund .

More information on how to register can be obtained via the GDC website gdc-uk.org, or by telephone on 0845 222 4141.
