GBP30,000 And 30,000 Air Miles Racked Up For Tooth Treatment

Thu, 25 Oct 2007

A Canadian resident has forked out a total of £30,000 and clocked up 30,000 air miles in order to have an appointment with his dentist .

Kevin Cross, from Bebington, flew to Merseyside three times so he could have treatment carried out on his badly-neglected teeth .

Cross was put in touch with Dr Liam McGrath at private dentist Buckle and McGrath, in Thornton Hough, after the clinic was recommended by his friends back home - persuading the 48-year-old pipeline welder to make the long and costly trip .

Cross said: "Nobody could quite believe that I was travelling such long distances to fix my teeth . But my friends in the UK had told me about the surgery and I decided to make an appointment when I was next there."

Dr McGrath discovered that the agonising pain Cross was suffering was due the fact that most of his back teeth were missing, while the rest also needed extensive work .

Cross was then put on a three-session plan which included visiting the dentist for two-week periods at Christmas, Easter and in the summer holidays .

The treatment saw Cross receive 12 implants in total and a combination of 24 crowns and veneers .

"All of my friends in Canada comment on my new teeth and my whole life has improved since the treatment," Cross added.

"I have gained so much self-confidence and I am no longer in pain."

Dr McGrath commented: "We have many patients who travel from overseas to our practice, so we are experienced in creating treatment plans to tie in with our patients’ travel schedules."
