IDMoS, the specialist in disease detection and monitoring technology, last week announced that its CarieScan and CarieScan Plus products would be launched at this year's British Dental Trade Association meeting at the NEC in Birmingham .
CarieScan, previously named Caries Detection Device, is a caries detection product developed by internationally recognised dental and clinical diagnostics experts Professor Nigel Pitts and Dr Chris Longbottom and is based on AC impedance spectroscopy.
The product facilitates earlier and more accurate detection of tooth decay than currently possible with any other commercially available system, the company stated, adding that it aims to exploit a growing trend towards preventive management of dental decay .
Denplan Ltd agreed last month to promote CarieScan products to their network of dental practices that represent over 70 per cent of the UK dental plan market.
Graham Lay, IDMoSs chief operating officer, said: "We have worked hard to achieve the launch of the CarieScan products into a significant market, and it is gratifying to achieve the first launch of the product with such a strong strategic partner as Denplan ."
"We remain focussed on the remaining significant steps to be taken to achieve full global launch and look forward to working with our partners to achieve this," he added.
