Thu, 21 Feb 2008

Drinking white tea could be vital for the prevention of tooth decay, new studies have revealed.

Up till now, many dental experts have believed that green tea was the ultimate in healthy tea drinking as it contains large amount of polyphenols - the antioxidant that helps fight and kill cancer -causing cells.

But new reports have found that leaving tea leaves so close to their natural state means that white tea contains even more of these powerful antioxidants than any other type of tea, including green tea .

A 2004 study, carried out at Pace University in the US, concluded that white tea can help your body's immune system fight off viruses and dangerous infection-causing bacteria .

In addition, the study also revealed that white tea can help prevent the growth of dental plaque, and therefore tooth decay, thanks to being naturally rich in fluoride.

White tea is also reputed to improve blood pressure, lowering cholesterol, and improve artery function, as well as protecting the skin and increasing bone density .
