Tyre manufacturer Michelin has began to provide its UK employees with a part-funded dental plan, aimed to counter spiralling National Health Service (NHS) costs in Britain .
According to reports from the publication Employee Benefits, the tyre company reviewed its existing cash plan last year, asking staff whether a dental plan would be of interest to them.
Despite the mixed response from staff, the employer decided that there was sufficient demand to implement such a scheme in place.
Michelins benefits manager, Julie Lovett, commented: "The survey was to gage how much interest there would be (in a dental plan) . We didnt get a fantastic response but it was enough to get us a meaningful set of results, so thats the route we are going down."
Employees have already been sent information packs about the dental plan, while those wishing to take part in the scheme are required to fill out a form and send it back to the manufacturer.
