Patients Receive Dental Check-Ups Online

Thu, 24 Jan 2008

A London-based dentist is providing dental check-ups to patients by using the Internet .

Dr Jerry Watson believes that the use of Internet technology could ultimately result in the majority of people receiving check-ups from the comfort of their own home .

Patients are asked to visit the Toothplace practice so that they can be filmed while having a £50 clean by a hygienist .

Dr Watson then views the clips via the Internet and then decides if the patient needs to be examined by him in person.

Dr Watson says by using a webcam, he will eventually be able to monitor his patients at all of his clinics, without leaving his surgery .

In addition, he added that he saw "no reason why people couldn’t get seen from home", as long as they had a high quality camera .

The dentist is planning on adding a further 20 sites to his London practice this summer.
