A new community dental service in Dundee is set to help tackle the shortgae of available places on NHS dentist lists in Tayside, Scotland .
Around 6,000 patients a year are to benefit from the new Dundee facility, situated at the citys Kings Cross Health and Community Care Centre.
The primary care dental department offers NHS treatment by dental practitioners and community dentists .
Residents in Tayside who are unable to see an NHS dentist, but are in urgent need of care, can attend the unit and receive a course of treatment .
Emergency treatment for patients who are not registered with a dentist is also available at the clinic.
Garry Sime, deputy clinical director of the new community service, said: "The extra surgeries have increased capacity to offer NHS care to people in Tayside who do not have an NHS dentist ."
"Anyone who wants access to an NHS dentist for treatment should contact the community dental service at the Kings Cross Health and Community Care Centre," he added.
The centre also hosts an outreach teaching facility for senior undergraduate dental students, as well as teaching for trainee dental nurses .
