A new dental advertising campaign has taken to the streets of Bradford aimed at highlighting the message that access to NHS dental care is easier than most people think.
Posters carrying the message - "Its a lot easier to see a local NHS dentist than you might think and its getting easier every day" - have been put up in 40 buses across the city.
The move is part of an awareness campaign by local primary care trust (PCT), NHS Bradford and Airedale, to encourage more local people to find an NHS dentist .
The PCT said access to NHS dentistry in the area has been boosted in the last 18 months by the opening of three new dental practices, with a fourth set to open soon near Bradford City Football Club in Manningham.
As a result of the extra dental care capacity, the PCT no longer has a waiting list of people waiting to be seen to by a dentist .
Catherine Thatcher, deputy director of primary care at NHS Bradford and Airedale, said: "Everyone should look after their teeth and get regular dental care and with more dentists taking on patients, it really is easier to book an appointment than most people think."
"The practices on nhs.uk all take on new patients from time to time. Sometimes people may have to wait until new places become available at the practice of their choice, or choose a practice further from their home, but dental care is available in the district."
