A new study has revealed that England is one of the most expensive countries in the world for dental care .
This research found that in nine countries the total cost of a standard filling ranged from 8 euros Hungary to around 156 euros (£117) in England. The total cost took into account the cost of dentists time, materials, x-rays and overheads.
The second most expensive country was Spain at around 125 euros for a standard filling, closely followed by Italy at 135 euros.
However, the costs in other western European countries were less than half the price of those in England, ranging from 46 euros in France to 67 euros in Germany.
Hungary and Poland two of the most popular destinations for Brits seeking low-cost dental treatment abroad were unsurprisingly ranked as the least expensive nations, with the cost of a dental filling coming to 8 euros and 18 euros respectively.
According to the study, dental tourism is the fastest growing type of medical tourism among Brits. It estimated that 43 per cent of the 77,000 people who travelled abroad for medical treatment did so in search of affordable dental care .
