CarieScan, the Dundee-based provider of dental healthcare products, has won a major industry award for its CarieScan PRO device, which is used in the early detection and monitoring of tooth decay .
The companys revolutionary technology won the award for Best New Diagnostic Device at the 2011 DrBicuspid Dental Excellence Awards in Chicago.
The product received the most votes from members of the American dental industry website, DrBicuspid.com.
The accolade was presented to Graham Lay, chief executive officer of 3D Diagnostic Imaging CarieScans parent company, at the prestigious ceremony.
He said: "On behalf of the team I am delighted that the PRO has been recognised by dentists and hygienists in the US as a leading device in its sector that can add real benefits to their dental practice and in turn their patients."
The CarieScan PRO hand-held device can detect tooth decay earlier and more accurately than any other product available on the market, and can also detect hidden decay beneath the surface enamel.
It is now widely used by dental practitioners in the UK, United States and Canada.
